But even though the need to be working consistently is the desire to succeed, it can also come from a place of guilt. Because for so long women have been conditioned to feel guilty for smiling to much or working instead of staying home with the kids. So the important thing is to remember you are not being selfish or letting anyone down while your taking some time for you. Because you have heard me say it before, self love is sanity not vanity. So having a better work life balance will lead to a more happier work life balance.
It has been proven that carving out me time is so important to our health. And working too much is a big contributor to depression and cardiovascular disease. We have to remember that our minds and bodies are our greatest tools so we have to protect them. So take the time to prepare nutritious meals, move your body everyday and always allow your body time to rest.
YOU CAN BE CREATIVE.
A saying you hear a lot is when someone says they do their best thinking in the shower. Have you heard it? I know I do, I can let my brain and body relax. Sometimes we have to step away in a quiet relaxing moment to find clarity . This means that if your work requires you to be creative and your mind is always in performance mode. Take the time to give it a rest and to recharge.
Then you can come back refreshed and rested. Let your mind be free to take you anywhere, you might just be surprised.
So “me time” looks different to everyone. Weather you recharge by doing Yoga or meditation. Or maybe just taking time to breathe in nature with your dog. It is so important to take that step back and enjoy yourself. Because “me time” is an investment to your well being. And it’s allowing you to show up as your best self.
