10 Ways to quiet your busy mind. Over thinker, constant worrier, always perfectionist. Yep this is me. How about you? Do you resonate with this too. And relaxation has never come easy to me. But over the last 4 or 5 years of practicing, I can say I’m much better now. What is the hardest part of self care for you? for so many of us woman just quieting our mind is the most difficult. Here is my checklist for self care and living a happy life.
From a young age I’ve had a mind that is going constantly. Even when I’m sleeping! Constantly thinking and searching for answers. And sometimes without realizing I’m doing two things at once just keeping my mind always occupied. Never stopping to breathe. Which made it hard to stop and relax. So my brain did not know how to shut off. Then began the worry of things that really did not need me to worry about and I didn’t worry 5 minutes before. This leaving me feeling feeling burnt out and drained.
So tell me how you quiet your mind and make it shut up? Not sure how to do that? I mean I could tell you to run a bath with the smell of vanilla candles burning, or putting on your walking shoes to sitting quietly and meditate. But instead I want to help you with these 10 things for you to try and quiet your mind when it’s just too busy…

Don’t keep things bottled up. I used to do that, and I was totally and mentally drained. If there is something that is always on your mind rehashing itself get it out there. Go and talk to a friend, write about it in your journal or share it on Instagram stories for people to talk back. And like me, talk to you! We all do it right?
2 CLEAN OUT YOUR CLUTTER.
Is this you too? I have always been someone that feels tense and stressed out if I’m working in a cluttered space. And this can really effect your mental state of mind. So clean out what you don’t need and is just taking up space.
3 LET’S CREATE SOMETHING. 10 WAYS TO QUIET YOUR BUSY MIND.
So let’s think about it. Creating something is a great way to divert your minds attention and feel more relaxed. And it can be anything from creating a healthy meal or spending time outside creating that herb garden that you’ve been meaning to do.
4 MAKE YOURSELF A LIST.
This i so helpful and something I do often. If you have way too much going around in your mind, then write it down. The calls to make, E mails to reply to. And then put them in order of most important to least important. Until you have them all done!
5 READ FICTION BOOKS.
And I say fiction books because non-fiction tends to put my mind into overdrive and thinking even more. So fiction will help your mind escape the grind, relax and think of something different. Try to do this every day.
6 DO A LITTLE EXERCISE.
Any sort of exercise can be great for distracting your mind of all the chatter. You can go for a run, walk or dance. And even kickboxing can all enforce your mind to start thinking in different ways. For me personally I love the slower pace like Yoga. This seems to really help calm my mind and allow me to feel peaceful.

OK so you knew this one would be in here right? If you have been following me for a while you will know that meditation has been a significant part of my life. Meditation is wonderful for everyone. But also so beneficial for people who are always inside their own head. It encourages you to be still without reacting to your thoughts. 8 MAKE YOUR PLAN. 10 WAYS TO QUIET A BUSY MIND.
I am always thinking how am I going to get everything done. So why not make a plan. Know what needs to be done. And how long it will take you to get it done. Then you need to think when are you going to get this done. You can even have a start and finish date. This really gives your mind a rest from thinking how you are going to get it all done.
9 HEAD TO THE CINEMA AND SEE A MOVIE
When going to see a movie in the cinema it really focuses your mind on being present in the moment. And stops your mind from getting distracted. And of course make sure you choose a movie that you’ve been waiting for!
10 ENFORCE YOURSELF TO FOCUS.
We can all relate to the fact our mind sometimes won’t focus when we need it to. And even forcing doesn’t work. Here are some ways to help..
1- Turn your phone to silent.
2- Turn off notifications on your phone.
3- close all screens
